A big thank you
Sunday, 17 December 2006
It's been a great year for us Defectors with lots of great memories..... Gigs wise we will never forget the launch night in Dorans in Oct, Our
first appearance at HWCH, Supporting Fun Lovin Criminals, Republic of
Loose and of course all those mental gigs in the Roisin Dubh, Galway.
Theres been lots more too. We played over 40 shows up and down the
country, each one has a story to tell...
We launched our website and my space sites this year and can't believe
the response we have got. Our website has got over 100,000 hits and we
are edging closer to 20,000 song plays on my space! It was a great year for us on Radio too, getting airplay on 2 fm, Today
fm, playing Live on Spin fm, lots of independent stations, taking over
the airwaves of Anna Livia.
We even made it on to TV! The 'Messed up' video has featured regularly on Channel 6's 'Night Shift' show. Speaking of that video how could we fail to mention the making of it with director Dom Browne. Getting chased around Kildare by a giant
orange blob that was squirting paint at us. Not something we are likely
to forget in a hurry!
We have done well in the press too. We got great coverage in NME,
Hotpress, Connected, The Leinster Leader and lots of provincial papers.
We feel our recordings have made great strides. We recorded 'Messed
up' and 'Toe to Toe' which got a great response and more recently
'Walking in the air' for the Focus Ireland Christmas album was also
very memorable. (You can check out 'Walking in the air' by clicking on the my space link on this site).
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came to our gigs
and to everyone who helped us make things happen. Without your support
we wouldn't be able to do this!
We have plenty lined up for nest year including a brand new recording
we are launching in Feb, a new video, new tunes and plenty of gigs. So
stay tuned!
Happy Christmas & New Year.
Peace,
Iain, Greg, Coli and Dave Defector.
